It's Finally Open...but...Will it Survive ?

Vic's Restaurant at Anthem Center Opens March 2nd

We at Anthem Opinions were just informed that the long awaited Vic's Restaurant will be open for dinner service beginning Saturday, March 2nd from 4:00pm to 11:00pm....

...and that throughout the month of March, it will be open Sunday through Thursday, 4:00pm to 10:00pm, and Friday and Saturday from 4:00pm to 11:00pm.

Reservations will be required by calling (702) 522-7200 or sending an email to Lulu Tovalin at LTovalin@vicslv.com.

This restaurant has been designed to offer fine food, and is offering a special Sun City Hour menu from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.  An SCA Member card must be presented in order to utilize this special menu.

Full dinner menus are available at the Anthem Center Front Desk.

Though we wish this new venture a success, we feel it our obligation to suggest you actually SEE the menu before a reservation is made.

Comments we have heard from others who attended a special PRE-opening, included wonderful food, excellent service, elegant ambiance, but

VERY PRICEY.

We certainly appreciate Ron doing the "leg work" and saving us a trip down to the Anthem Center...and for that matter, a trip to Vic's after seeing the prices.

I suggest you "cut & paste" it, and examine it closely.

The one thing that seems to be missing is the cost of a drink or glass of wine. Anyone know what those will cost?

...and IF you do eat there, make sure you do so between 4:00-6:00pm...and are a member of Sun City Anthem.

Even between those hours, for two of you, you'll be walking out the door with a pretty good tab.

Two entrees and sharing a salad and dessert, adding a cocktail, coffee, tax, and tip, and you'll still wind up with something in area of about $50...for smaller food portions than those available on the alternative menu.

Now think about what $50 will buy you elsewhere on a "buy-one get one free" basis?

And it gets a lot worse after 6:00pm, because afterwards, it appears the comments previously received, were right on target.

    PRICEY....

...and again, keeping on mind you are being forced to compete in a town that lives by the words "Buy One...Get One Free"...

...my guess is that Vic's will be fairly empty after 6:00pm.

    EX.

    A La Carte

    Orange Roughy & Shrimp: $32.00
    Spaghetti & Meatballs: $19.00

    Add a side:

    A "Loaded" baked potato ? ($7)

...but a bargain "Boring" Baked Potato for "only $5)

Does that mean we have to smuggle our own sour cream ?

Add coffee, dessert, a drink, and tip,and well, looks like you'll be charging that credit card for you and whoever joins you, close to $100.

WOW...nice to have, but not for me.

Sorry folks, this is far from the "casual modestly priced" restaurant many seniors thought would exist.

... but the guys who wanted that place for a billiards room might not have long to wait after looking at those prices.

I see another flaw in the 4:00-6:00pm menu.

What happens if you don't want dessert? Looks like the special Sun City Anthem menu infers, eat it or lose it, that you'll be charged just the same.

Looks like I'm sticking with other places.

It's too bad that many of us won't be able to afford what we were lead to believe would be for our community.

I suppose for Vic's sake, he better do a lot of advertising all over Las Vegas, because he won't be getting rich from our community.

And to think how much we, as residents, spent to get that place in such good working condition and buying all the new equipment, knowing it will mostly be used for those outside our community, is another reason someone has to ask themselves, "Have we been fleeced again?"
