A Tasty Delight Close to Home

A Different Perspective for Vic’s

Over the previous year, one of our often debated issues has been our SCA restaurant Vic’s.  One side says good and one says not so good as a business decision by our board.  Among the issues were:  the lease and the terms, the initial deal for rent, the cost of preparing the restaurant for opening, the discounts to residents, the new lowering of the rent to further subsidize Vic’s for survival, the hours to open and the list goes on.
Let's forget about all those for a few minutes.

The following comments are not meant to address any of the business issues for neither Vic’s nor SCA.

My wife and I finally decided to have a meal at Vic’s and not think of the issues that have been recently bantered around.

When we arrived at 6:30 PM on a Thursday, there were about 30 people seated around the restaurant.  We had a nice table that was one row from the windows and had a nice scenic view of the strip. We had immediate service that continued throughout the evening.

We both ordered the Pork Chop entrée.

The waiter started with Hot Rolls on the table followed by a house salad all included with the dinner. All nicely presented definitely to our satisfaction.

Our main course selection was a winner.  The Pork Chops were outstanding. The menu describes them as “Broiled 12oz. frenched double boned center cut pork chop on top of Grandma’s famous stuffing.  Topped with a roasted caramel apple and a butter whiskey broth.”

They were cooked perfectly and everything came HOT. Nice flavor and a delicious caramel apple on top. Grandma’s stuffing was outstanding.

My wife has a glass of house wine and I had a well drink.  Since it was happy hour 2 drinks totaled $8.32.  We then got a 15% resident discount on the entre.  Our total before tip was $53.86.  Service was excellent throughout the meal.

No doubt that the price was VERY fair for this meal.  Hot, quality food with great flavor and presentation.

We will be returning to Vic’s for additional dinners based upon our first experience. I will leave the other issues to be debated by others.
