As I'm sure you can imagine, we often get emails.

Some need to be edited for "language", some are critical, but most are complimentary.

However, we do get a few once in a while that tickle our funny bone.

Today, the funny bone got the tickle, and we had to share it with you.

So to you Karen ...

Thanks for making my day...and I'm sure you'll be making many others as they read your correspondence to Anthem Opinions.

"I kept meaning to send you a note about my experience at the SCA tour of the restaurant facilities on March 8th.

I was very surprised to see how many residents actually showed up, but disappointed that the tour only lasted for a few minutes.

It seems our GM was only there to walk interested owners straight thru without answering anyone's questions.

In fact, one owner tried to ask her a question, and she told him "this was not the time for questions".

He then asked her when there was going to be another meeting about the restaurant, and she told him that she didn't know.

He then said that she should know; that she made an awful lot of money and should know what was going on.

Sandy then got up into his face and told him that she was not going to get into a confrontation with him, and it was up to the Board to decide if they wanted to have any more discussions about the restaurant with homeowners.

She then suggested that he leave and hurried the group of residents out the back door of the restaurant, and went back for another tour group.

I don't think she's going to make the Miss Congeniality list this year.

While Sandy was talking to the owner, I happened to be moving with a group of owners that settled around a prep table just inside the rear exit.  We were discussing ideas and exclaiming how much equipment there was in the over-sized kitchen.

There was a well-dressed man (with the initials "DAB" embroidered on his shirt) standing on the opposite side of the prep table, and he seemed to be answering questions.

As I turned my attention towards him, I heard him "announce" to the group that...

"the homeowners want a restaurant on the property" and "at any cost".

Well, that statement certainly caught my attention, because I think another restaurant is a big waste of money, and the space could be better utilized by the growing number of clubs.

So I voiced my opinion, and several of those around me were in agreement with me.

Then the man asked if I really thought that 50% of the homes would vote to allow the restaurant to be closed, and I told him

"yes, as long as the information was presented truthfully, and with real numbers"

He seemed a bit miffed, especially when I then said

"Excuse me, "DAB", but are you on the Board or with the management office?"

He looked shocked as he turned to face me, first putting his hands on his hips (like the Mr. Clean guy does), and then reached for his wallet.

"Don't you know who I am?"  he asked me.

"Uhm, no--if I did, I wouldn't be calling you "DAB" would I?"

He then handed me a yellow business card, and told me...

...he wrote the Association's "most informative blog", and that he had over 4,000 subscribers, and...

I should be sure to take a look at it for unbiased information.

After I saw his name on the card, I realized that I had read about him when I first moved into SCA and how he lost his law license.

Unbiased Opinion?  Ha-Ha!

I did take a look at his ramblings after I got home and now wonder what planet he lives on?

It's too bad the SCA residents can't write in candidates for the upcoming election--I would certainly be putting Nona's name on it.

I actually thought about doing it anyway, but unless ALL the election results were being published, my vote wouldn't count at all.

I hope she gets her stuff all worked out soon so she is able to run at a later date.

Anyway, just wanted you to know that "DAB" STILL thinks he's something special.

Keep keeping us informed!!"

Karen, we sincerely thank you for sending us your comments.

Funny "The DAB" wrote on his blog a day of two ago he had 1,900 subscribers.  A month ago was 4,000?  Business must be bad !

Oh well, thanks for the laugh.

As to what planet he is lives on, we suspect...

Anyone want to thank Karen for her observations?

Perhaps the SCA Minister of Information is being exposed(?) for what he really is?

After all, this is not 1930's Germany.

But, alas, to paraphrase Josef Goebbels: "Tell a lie long enough, and eventually people will start to believe it"
  2. From Lloyd Frank...to...Anthem Opinions

Thank you Karen for this information.

    DAB, what a mystery.!
  3. From Buddy Greenfield...to...Anthem Opinions

I disagree with his residing on Ork.

      Thank you Karen.

Myself and my husband definitely "Do Not" want a restaurant. We live here 12 1/2 yrs and have seen the loss of revenue from all the restaurant failures!!

I did & would happily vote for NONA again!! I too, thought of filling in Nona's name on the withdrawn candidates spot!

While reading your blog something occurred to me.

Remember that commercial that went like this" bend over and a little DAB will do you" ?

Just a little something to make your day.

This comment was also placed on the Berman blog.

"Excuse me, Mr. Berman, but I did NOT make up a story about your participation at the restaurant tour.

You GAVE ME YOUR BUSINESS CARD AND SUGGESTED THAT I LOOK AT YOUR BLOG because your had almost 4,000 subscribers.

I had NO IDEA who you even were, but you were very busy answering other homeowner questions.

I thought you were one of the TOUR GUIDES, until one of your comments about having ANOTHER restaurant and how so many residents were in favor of one--even if they had to subsidize it, caught my attention while I spoke with another owner.

THAT sir, is why I asked who you were.

Our conversation started when you asked me if I seriously thought that 50% of owners would vote against another restaurant, and I said yes--if the information provided to them was truthful and had real numbers to back up the reasons.

We even discussed different kinds of restaurants and price points--and you told me how much you and your wife liked to SHARE THE CHICKEN AND WAFFLES AT METRO because their portions were SO LARGE, one dish could be shared and brought the cost down to something REASONABLE (about $8 per person).

            Remember me now???

So don't go telling your readers that Mr. Arendt fabricated a story--he didn't--but you did."
            1. From Bernadette Speiser...to...Anthem Opinions

Good for you Karen, you "nailed him".
              1. I personally love all the comments so far and surely agree with them. I haven't said much (lately) because for me it gets to "not playing well with others."

This insanity just goes on and on without any results other than an election on occaision.

As too "Do you know who I am" shows us he thinks he's a legend in his own mind. Our overpaid GM has turned into the board's do as I say, AND do as I do-village idiot.

This has to end sometime, as well as our elected village lawyer as well. They know it.

I find it odd when I look at Mr Vermin's blog and there are never any responses to whatever he writes. Are they such idiots that whatever he says they agree? Aside of the 3 or 4 dunces that have fallen from society he might need the services of Sandy Ridge again (who ever that was).

                They feed his ego well.

As a side note: Please notice that on St Rose parkway the building is going at a very fast pace. The cocky-lockies that predicted the sky will fall on anything that is built north of the airport has been poo-poo'ed by the city of Henderson, they want tax $$, and that "hallowed" ground that these idiots want to protect isn't going to happen. Nothing of what they said...nothing...will bring to fruition their wishes, other than wanting a Costco for their lazy butts. Losers.
