I told him how much I admired him and most importantly for being such gentleman and good role model for kids. He was kind and warm hearted. He returned hellos from all his fans and tipped his hat. My mother loved Ernie Banks and he was her favorite. She had always wanted to invite him over for dinner!! BTW, my mama was "color blind". The problem,? My mama has been dead since 1991. I guess old habits die hard!!Ernie, loved by all baseball fans, will be sorely missed. He was a true gentlemen!!
