Sun City Anthem Board Insults Community with Board Choices & Restaurant Decision

Sun City Anthem Board "Machine"
Tells Community
"We Run it...You Pay for It"

1. Gary Lee resigns as Board Member...says he's moving back to Texas.

2. Aletta Waterhouse, who previously received 40% of the votes to remove her from office, was  chosen to replace Bob Burch on the Sun City Anthem Board.

3. Patricia Carrell, former Chairperson of the Lifestyle Committee chosen to replace Gary Lee on the Sun City Anthem Board....the day after Lee's letter of resignation.

4. G2G Restaurant negotiations reopened after 2 different occasions of backing out of original deal....with likely the same and probably additional more freebies unit owners will subsidize

And is there anyone out there that doesn't believe a "machine" exists?

How do you feel about this latest Board action ?

Don't know Patricia Carrell. Can't comment.

The Board should not have re-installed Aletta Waterhouse after she was the subject of a recall, and also lost a regular board election.

They should of picked one of other 8 people who applied.

    We need some new blood.
  2. John.

    Pat Carrell is 100% machine.

She was one of the individuals, while a member of the Lifestyle Committee,  who sent emails to Club members during the removal election telling them to vote against the Recall election... (although in the guise of a "private resident"), yet made sure it was known she had been associated with official committees.

I will have an article about her coming out shortly.

She has a reputation for her rude behavior toward residents.

My opinion is I am in shock.

    What can we do?

The restaurant deal is beyond terrible.

    What is going on?

The Board is not representing our wishes.

Seems that we don't have enough people that care.

Another petition campaign in sept oct when weather is cooler?

…….and NOW we all know why postage $$$ was spent to send that notice to homeowners regarding the Board's "right" to appoint new members.....we were all set up !

But I forgot: WE'RE ALL STUPID.
  5. From Buddy Greenfield...to...Anthem Opinions

I am disgusted with this action regarding the restaurant.  It seems that the board has their own opinions and does not care if the homeowners just pay for everything.  They base their opinion on a handful of carefully picked residents that showed up to a meeting and said they want a restaurant.  They have ignored all the rest of the residents. How sad.

In my opinion Waterhouse was a rubber stamp for the board to get their agenda accomplished, so she was once again selected even though there were numerous residents that voted for her to be recalled from her previous board position.

Rumor has it that Pat Carrell is just another rubber stamp for the political machine that is in place.

I am disappointed and disgusted with this entire situation. The board want their way and wants us to pay for it.

The only way to ever change this is at the ballot box.

We need a slate of 5 to 7 people to run for the board to fix this.  Adding one or two folks at a time has failed.

In life, we all tend to get what we deserve.

You the board will get yours.

    G2G will get theirs.

Maybe someone will organize to tell G2G how the people feel.

    To the SCA board:

I feel that you the board are dishonest and only care about your personal agenda.

You do not care if you pass on all the costs of your opinions and errors to the homeowners.

You chase away any reasonable ideas that are not your own.

You do not represent the community and what is most annoying is that you do not care.

You are a group of power hungry weaklings.

I am disappointed to be represented by you.

No, I will not move since I am invested in this community but will just wait for you to disappear in what ever manner that happens to be.

    Shame on all of you!
    1. From A. Orzada...to...Anthem Opinions

What has to happen before the community takes some action to remedy the PROBLEM with the board ?

Your latest article regarding Burch's  resignation to be replaced by a loser, reopening the restaurant negotiations with G2G (Denny's) which will cost US, THE HOMEOWNERS, MORE $$$$$$, the MACHINE  continues on, & on & on.where does it stop, Dick ?

Please keep up the good work! !
    2. It can only stop by good, honest, and caring people who are more concerned about the community as a whole than personal agendas.

Machine style politics have controlled Sun City Anthem for years and their organization has kept  a closed knit group of individuals in power that has caused continual financial loss year after year in addition to destroying the spirit of a once close retirement community.

As Buddy Greenfield stated, we will have 5 seats open for the SCA Board in the next election.

To any of you who wish to join a movement to bring this continued curse to an end, let us know.

I can assure any of you who share our beliefs, that there are MANY will will support you both verbally and financially if you are willing to assist in this effort to save our association.

We must prepare to act now before our freedoms and financial stability continue to deteriorate.

The Darcy Spears report made an entire Las Vegas Valley aware of the management income waste and if we cannot solve our problems within, we will continue to be the laughing stock of southern Nevada.

Once again, I urge any of you who believe the time has come to solve this growing concern, to please come forward and save a community that is drowning in its unethical behavior.
  1. From Karen Hadrick...to...Anthem Opinions

How in the world does this nonsense keep on happening with this Board?

The other day, I checked to see what DAB's perspective was on life in SCA and got the impression that of the few homeowners that had offered to serve on the board, the BOD didn't seem to be impressed with any of them, and they were still looking as of July 27th.

Is it possible that the successor(s) were already on the BOD's radar, and the "continuing search" just another smoke screen?

Too bad Mr. Lee isn't sticking around--wonder if the decision to move was out of his control, or he saw he was backed against a wall by the monster board and needed a quick escape?

I just find it amazing that within only a few days, (and if I'm not mistaken) and just in time for their next board meeting, they were able to create a full quorum to resurrect that horrible excuse for a restaurant.

What is it going to take to make that idea go away???

(I wish I could draw you a cartoon right now--it would be of the guy tossing his t.v. with the caption that he's "Mad as Hell and not going to take it anymore!")
  2. Karie,

Believe it or not, the vote to choose both individuals was unanimous.

It might be the most arrogant thing this Board has ever done other than the unethical manner in which the Removal election was conducted.

How Aletta Waterhouse actually asked to be placed on the Board, much less unanimously chosen over other individuals after 40% of those who cast ballots to remove her, and was defeated in the last election, says it all !

She's an individual with a personal agenda who wants her way no matter how many people wished she would disappear into the night and never return.

Does she actually believe anyone with ethics would believe a word she ever said or have a shred of confidence in anything she ever did after this?

Both she and the Board insulted the community in the process, and I hope all of this will be remembered if any of those uncaring, egomaniacs decide to run for reelection.

The entire bunch of them deserve to be looked at for what they've now proven themselves to be:

A self-serving group of individuals who care little about Sun City Anthem...

    ...control freaks...

...who deserve the same disrespect they've shown the owners of the community.

Add this choice of individuals to the obvious backdoor dealings with a restaurant owner WITHOUT INFORMING THE COMMUNITY that negotiations were continuing DESPITE the fact that the community was lead to believe they were closed, and they not only deserve disrespect...

    ...but ABSOLUTE CONTEMPT.

None could ever be trusted again.

They have indeed, DIVIDED a community, like never before !
    1. How to taint the numbers...

      From B's Bull Sheet:

"The vote to remove Aletta was 1,253, vs. 1,688 who voted to keep her on the Board."

"So apparently in that blogger’s eyes, the 435-vote margin to keep Aletta doesn’t count."

Well, when you consider the manner in which the Removal election was UNETHICALLY conducted, that 40+% was indeed an amazing WIN when that 40+% was obtained HONESTLY and totally by WORD OF MOUTH, versus BIASED eblasts and emails to Club presidents telling people not to vote for removal, in addition to disguising the ballots when sent.

Those elements mean little to those WHO PRACTICE THE ART OF DECEPTION.

INTEGRITY is obviously irrelevant in the mix when disguising the FULL STORY when it comes from an individual whose history of DISHONESTY is well documented.

Perhaps it's time to refer to the B Bull Sheet as TAINTED NEWS.

After attending the July 26 Board of Directors meeting held on August 2, I came away disappointed, but not unexpectedly surprised at the board’s making it clear that rather than try to best serve the wishes of the residents, they will continue the “our way or the highway” approach to issues pertinent to the community.

This was especially evident when many of us thought the restaurant issue was dead in the water.

It is evidently alive and well and will include the G2G gang that sought to pick our pockets a few months back, only be told our board will resume its courtship with them,

This company, mostly known for its Denny’s and Coco’s successes, are not about to enter a venture, in an location where that would be almost totally dependent on the dollars spent by residents, unless we ante up exceptional incentives to subsidize their long shot and enter it with very little cash outlay.

First, it’s very unlikely that  they wouldn’t pay any rent, the only cash we could possibly extract from them.

The average Denny’s produce’s about $1,424,000 per year in gross sales, but this includes many locations in high traffic locations open 24/7

Only after hitting the $`1,400,000 sales plateau would that have to pay 4% of any amount OVER this figure.

On that virtually unattainable sales number in a year of $1.5 million it would bring us $2000, which may not likely pay the prorated taxes.

According to the last G2G proposal, we would pay for all equipment updates, utilities, linen service, janitorial and whatever else.

How can they sweeten that deal.- pay the salaries for burger flippers, large ad signs on the street ala Trumpets, reserved parking?

Nothing was mentioned at the meeting of the 2 large commercial ovens or whatever they were, that were allegedly ordered by this brain trust for about $43,000 of our money WITHOUT A SIGNED LEASE.

But the Board released other secrets; that being replacements for vacancies, they appointed.

The one was a woman, a recycled board member, who likely would have been removed during the recall election, had it not been for the board’s antics making votes difficult to properly understand and sticking us with a unnecessary accounting bill ($85,000 I believe)

Could this be a warning not to upset their apple cart?

With all the shenanigans this board is displaying, many are starting to wonder if professional management may not be an option to better serve us and our wallets.

Do we as residents get a vote?

This UNETHICAL AND SNEAKY SWAMP not only needs draining, but let's not forget the other party to this obvious backdoor transaction either....

Figures she would get back in with her other crooked friends still on the Board!  I don’t know anything about the other lady.

And now they’re going to work with G2G again???  What a waste of time!!!

Seems like they found another way to take our money and dump it into another abyss!

Wonder who’s benefiting what from all their crooked and illegal dealings?!

This was the first time I've attended a board meeting. After hearing all the controversy surrounding this board and the decisions they've made and then watching the Darcy Spear's piece on channel 10, I had to see for myself who these board members are.

I was shocked to hear they are reconsidering the same restaurant group. That sounds to me like another failure in the making.

When are they going to learn the whole idea is to make a profit?

You can't do that if you are subsidizing them for practically everything.

I believe this board is doing exactly as they please because of the homeowner's apathy to get involved, myself included.

We need to make our voices heard, attend these board meetings.

Find out what's going on and do something about it before it's too late...again.
