What conclusions can be drawn from this election?
It appears obvious.

The Unit Owners of Sun City Anthem do not like the leadership (or lack thereof) of the current or past boards.

The "people" would rather have 3 UNKNOWN unit owners represent them than an old guard that brought them disappointment and failure.

That let it be...
resolved.png (439×255)

The ones who are NOT TRANSPARENT...

The ones who appear to have made bad decisions...

The ones who work on their personal agendas rather than putting the homeowner first...

The ones who allow our self management "queen" to rule the roost...

The ones who spend OUR money like it is in unlimited supply...

The ones who swore self management would save us money but refused to give us actual financial results...

The ones who believed they needed the solid support of a blogger whose corruption has been evident for years...

...appear to be losing the support of a community that has been having to endure decisions that have cost unit owners thousands of dollars in waste.

On what basis do we draw such a conclusion?

Those obtaining the lowest vote totals were incumbents...and...
...the "outsider" Nona Tobin, vote total surpassed that received by the current President, Rex Weddleby more than a substantial total.

Rex Weddle should be embarrassed by the outcome.

There is no way this can be interpreted other than a SOLID REJECTION of his leadership as a Board President.

What a story.

Incumbent wins seat but far behind all new and unknown competitors

In fact, had there been another candidate, we believe, based on the total, he would  probably have gone down in defeat.

What affect will this have on the new Board officers?

In that respect, we sadly believe that there is little optimism....if a similar mentality persists.

With the reelection of Weddle, there still remains the likes of Tom Nissen, Aletta Waterhouse, and Bob Burch...all who have consistently banded together in the past to create the  financial chaos that has existed in our community....

...a sufficient number to "stonewall" any reform efforts new Board members might attempt to enact.

Our suspicions will be confirmed if any of the above "old guard" are elected to the Presidency of Sun City Anthem.

To have this occur would be an ARROGANT INSULT to all Sun City Anthem unit owners based on this vote total.

We therefore challenge any of the existing "old guard" to come forth by joining the new Board members in...

"Making Sun City Anthem Great Again"

This IS a NEW BEGINNING for Sun City Anthem...a beginning so many of us hope, will not result in the same failing results of the past.

Is there a bright light in this?

Perhaps...

We believe these results will give others in the community an opportunity to consider running for office in 2018.

We shall see.

Of course this may very-well occur:

    (as you write)

"Our suspicions will be confirmed if any of the above "old guard" are elected to the Presidency of Sun City Anthem." ...

...but the 'spin' will be that 'we only want experienced leadership as President' or some other sanctimonious line of bunk to justify their selection of President.

In my opinion, I lost the election because I did the right thing!

I voted the way I thought would benefit the Association.

      There were two issues.

One issue was the disagreement between the Spotlight Club and Performing Arts.

I believed, and still believe, that Spotlight is/was a duplicate of Performing Arts and therefore should not have been approved.

It obviously was a ploy to get Susan Girard "back in business" so-to-speak.

Initially I was going to vote for Spotlight, but at the workshop when the Presidents of the two groups spoke and Performing Arts was willing to "negotiate" and Spotlight was not, I decided to vote against approving Spotlight.

The second issue was the facilitation agreement between the Community Service Group (CSG)and the Foundation Assisting Seniors (FAS).

When I became liason to CSG I learned that they NEVER were asked for input into the terms of the agreement that was prepared by Dan Forgeron and Jean Capillupo (Bd member).

In addition, since the inception of the agreement, leaders of the FAS tried to make CSG subservient to them, when in fact CSG was an ASSOCIATION group and not "outsiders" like the FAS.

The CSG executive board voted unanimously to either renegotiate the agreement, and if not possible, to cancel the agreement.

For four months the Association GM tried to get both parties together to negotiate.

CSG agreed and sent in a list of issues.

FAS never responded and ,in fact, let it be known that there were "no problems".

At one time earlier, the Foundation President told the CSG President that the terms of the Agreement were non-negotiable.

I guess when you consider yourself to be a "King", you can say/do things like that.

I can remember when this Association came under resident control many years ago, this same "King" became Association President and the Board Meetings were run like his "Kingdom" and generally very nasty.

That set the precedent for residents to avoid going to Board Meetings.

My role in this as liason was simply to keep the Board informed of the problems CSG was having with the "King and his Court".

It was the Board who decided to revoke the Facilitation Agreement as a result of the issues!

Thanks for being so succinct. I think the results of the election so definitely prove that Weddle should step down.

I'm going to stay optimistic for the short term and see who takes the reins.

Hello to all the readers of this blog.

My name is Jenni Weinstein and I have the honor of calling Carl Weinstein my father.

For all of you that supported him during this election, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that.

It's sad to think the way that some seniors in the community behave (you know who you are).

It's disappointing that you would resort to the decimation of someone's character to make a point.

A good example is the posting of signs in the yard "vote no for Carl Weinstein."

I know who the instigator in all of this is, and SHAME ON YOU!!!

If you have something to say, don't say it with a sign, express it verbally to the party. Have the common courtesy to do so.

We are not in high school anymore!!

To run around and spread rumors or talk badly about someone is extremely rude.

It's truly saddening at times to see how some of you treat one another in this community.

I am saddened by the fact that my father will no longer be on the Board of Directors. He was truly there for the homeowners and never used a personal agenda to get things done.

He took true pride in his work for the association.

I saw this everyday since I live with him. The Board gave him a sense of purpose.

We can all learn a valuable lesson from this election.

That is, to treat people with respect, appreciate one another for our strengths, and be kind to one another.

If you were to run for the Board how would you like a sign in someone's yard about you?????
      3. Jenni, we all know what you said, came straight from the heart.

Knowing your dad over the years has had its ups and downs, agreements and disagreements, but when all is said and done, we will never have an individual on the Sun City Anthem Board of Directors who had a better sense of humor.

Let's hope Carl's health improves. He's a good man who always took the director role seriously, and always answered resident emails.

From a personal standpoint, I will miss the dedication he always showed residents.

  1. Losing Jim Mayfield and Carl Weinstein from the Board is a great loss to the Sun City Anthem community. Both gentlemen worked with the interest of the community in mind, and not with self interest. Our thanks to Jim and Carl for all you achieved for SCA.
