I must concur that cancellation insurance is a necessity: 2 years ago we were scheduled to fly to a wedding when I found myself in the hospital....I received a full refund for the airfare (after my surgeon readily filled out the Insurance Company form). The insurance saved us +/- $500 in un-used airfare
