Dear Readers,

On October 20th, I mentioned that as of November 1, 2020 Anthem Opinions will be known as Anthem Opinions: A Vegas Voice Publication.

As a result, this will be my final article as the owner of this blog.

For the past 11 days I've sat quietly trying to figure out a way to say

bon voyage to a publication that my friend and fellow Sun City Anthem resident, Allen Weintraub, and I contrived 8 years ago.

Many of you may be unaware of Allen since his "silence" has been hidden over the years, but without Allen Weintraub's technical assistance and knowledge of computer technology, there would never have been an Anthem Opinions.

Anthem Opinions' ironic beginning began one day when we both went swimming at the Liberty Center indoor pool.  As we were changing into our street clothes, I got into a conversation with some guy who told me he was from Chicago, lived near where I did, and knew many of my friends from my college days.

As we spoke, suddenly we looked at each other with a strange stare after he told me his name was Allen.  I said to him, "Allen ?", and he said back to me "Dick ?"

...and over 40 years seemed to disappear as we began to laugh.

(Though I did ask him why he got old and I didn't !)

Allen and I were fraternity brothers that hadn't seen each other since our college days !

As a matter of fact, he was one of the 12 original founders of our local fraternity, Sigma Delta Pi, which subsequently nationalized and became a chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu...."Sammies".

In my garage to this very day, I have a fraternity paddle with Allen's name inscribed on it.

So...to Allen Weintraub, my dear friend whom I "lost" for 40 years, I want to thank you for the best of friendships these past 8 of them.

Who would have ever "thunk it", huh Allen?

There were some others who graciously contributed to Anthem Opinions over the years; first and foremost, another individual whose talent has provided many home improvement articles...and unselfish dedication in helping so many homeowners over the years.

I'm speaking of Forrest Fetherolf...Mr. Fix-It...Mr. Friend of Sun City Anthem... a person whose assistance and kindness has been valued and appreciated whenever I've called him, day or night.

For years, another lady named Valerie Lapin, provided us with so many valuable tips that graced our "Why Didn't I Think of That...Tips" Information page.  Thanks Valerie.

We had a very special lady named Jackie Brett greatly assist us in her entertainment news.  Thank you Jackie.  Those "First Wednesday" breakfasts each month at Sunset Station have been sorely missed since the pandemic began in March. I can't wait until some form of normalcy exists again when we can get together again.

Over the years, many of our articles have been edited by other members of Sun City Anthem....my spelling errors became evident that we were in need of editors and residents Marcia Kosterka, Liz Breier,  and Robert Nusser would step up the plate.  Thank you Marcia, Liz, and Robert.

Last but not least is my wife, Marla.  What a gal !

...and what a lucky guy I was to land a loving lady who the words "for better or worse, richer or poorer" to my life for the past 35 years.

So...though my major involvement and ownership will cease on Sunday, November 1, 2020, the Vegas Voice has requested that both Forrest Fetherolf and I remain a part of their family.

We happily accepted Dan Roberts invitation to join the Vegas Voice to the degree he wishes our input.

Thank you Sun City Anthem for the opportunity to tell our story these past 8 years.  God bless all of you and PLEASE, I ask those who wish to make our community a better place, to do so without selfish motive in the future.

After all,  without "the good guys", the "bad guys" will prevail for years to come.

Once again, my heartfelt thanks to all of you allowing us in your homes over the years.

Dick Arendt

Thanks so much for all those 8 years unselfish contribution to the lucky Sun City Anthem residents.

Your blog will be missed by So Many Residents who all want our great community being a right one for all, without selfish nor political maneuvering motivations!!!

(We have had enough of those before our retirement)

Best of all, you revealed the ugly part of some dishonesty that exists in this community and voiced for the majority silent residents.

I appreciate getting to know you and Rana!  Your friendship is treasured!!!

    1. From Crystal Hendrickson...former Henderson Mayoral Candidate...to Anthem Opinions

Lovely farewell message. Best wishes to you.

    2. From Kathleen VonderAhe...to...Anthem Opinions

As seniors we have had to  suffer  many a  “good-bye” over the years...temporary or permanent.   All  carry some degree of sadness, and it never gets easier.

      Life teaches us that.

I have enjoyed your articles and input over the years on the original Anthem Opinions, and look I look forward to your contributions in this new venture with the award winning VEGAS VOICE.

And so this is not a “good-bye.

It is a “see you soon”!With appreciation.

      Cheers,

      Kathleen VonderAhe

    A Letter From Rana

                                                     A LETTER FROM

                                                    RANA GOODMAN

I most sincerely thank all residents, friends and neighbors that took the time to write to the Board on my behalf objecting to the sudden reorganization of board officers.

The result of this action may have removed me from the presidency (with just seven months remaining of my Board term), it did not however slow my determination to maintain a voice for all residents of SCA and all seniors in my travels to the  state legislature on matters of concern, i.e. veteran, estate planning, guardianship, HOA reform and such.

Your heartfelt words meant the world to me and I will never forget your kindness

    Rana Goodman

                               -----------------------------

    Directors of Sun City Anthem,

Let me make clear that I recognize that the Board has the right to reorganize at any time. It is the underhanded and secretive way that this Board has conducted itself which is the cause of this letter.

I first want to unconditionally reiterate that I have not, in anyway, caused any breach of my “fiduciary duties” to Sun City Anthem residents.

The Board’s action and its so-call legal reasoning is based on something that

    1.  I did not do, and

    2. At best, a threat of a speculative future action by a SCA club, and,

    3. An assumption that our insurance coverage would no longer exist.

Even worse, through a shameless Board authorized “cease & desist” letter, should I choose to defend myself, this Board’s position is that by doing so, I breach “confidentiality and good faith” requirements.

To compound matters, the allegation that I breached “confidentiality” at the recent Executive Session by telling Dan that he cannot talk belies the fact that Sandy specifically advised that he could attend. Dan changed his schedule and plans to be present only for me to be told by counsel that it is forbidden.

And when I suggested to have Dan discuss the situation AFTER the executive session ended, my offer was ignored.

To top it off, at the Board meeting, I had to listen to Paul tell residents who questioned the reorganization (Paraphrasing) that “After what she has done, we had no choice.”

Unfortunately, the straw that broke THIS camel’s back was the 2nd reprehensible statement by Paul. By questioning my friends (and ignoring the “friendship” that certain members have with a dishonorable and mean-spirited resident), he had the audacity to claim that if “only residents knew what she did”- but alas, he could not elaborate since he is bound by confidentiality.

I will eventually make clear to residents that this Board (and its counsel) had the wrong “C” word. It’s not “Confidentially” but rather “Cowardice.”

I will however remain sorry that the dreams of this new Board to work together and our pledges of transparency to SCA residents – something that has not existed for many years - could not be achieved.

Due to all of the above, I no longer have faith, respect or trust in my fellow Board members to do the right thing for Sun City Anthem and its residents. Accordingly, effective immediately I hereby resign from the SCA Board of Directors.

    Rana Goodman

  • For the best interest of our residents, we hopefully look forward to a board that can be led by one who understands and expresses the traits of empathy and compassion. Enough of the rage and distortions and excessive anger.

  • This comment has been removed by the author.

  • To Rana and Dan,

First let me say you both have my support and confidence. This Board of SCA that promised transparency, communication and honesty has become a pathetic group of “scared” fools without integrity or purpose.

perlstein is a joke and failure and hasn’t earned the right to suggest anything about Ms. Goodman; further his only purpose was the restaurant survey, “hell of a job so far”!

The remaining Board of pope, quinn, hadrick, Linow and anderson are truly inept and have not seriously done their job or even attempted to keep their promises as they suggested when they ran for office.

It amazes me that the SCA Legal Counsel has not been terminated. I suspect the reason is Clarkson has not given this Board permission to terminate his position. It seems Clarkson has trained this Board well; when he says “jump”, the Boards only question is “how high”!

Rana, you don’t deserve or need this group and they certainly don’t deserve you. Be assured you are better off disassociated from this “pack” of misfits.

I look forward to your extended remarks and I wish you and Dan success and good health. Finally, I look forward to Dan’s approach and success with his new blogs to add to his “ communication” empire.

    Peter Brown

  • From Valerie Lapin...to...Anthem Opinions

It is reprehensible the way you have been treated!

As always I find politics to be a dirty business.

Your good name has been tarnished by this terrible Board who promised to be different than previous Boards.

I have known you for many years and you deserve to be treated far better than how this Board has underhandedly treated you.

  • From Paul Shea & Mary Shea...to...Anthem Opinions

    Wow,Never met Rana.

What was this egregious offense this lady committed?

We’re new to community & don’t get involved with political shenanigans.

  • Paul & Mary,

Your comment, though sad to hear regarding a desire not to be involved with community politics, is DEAD ON THE MONEY.

For years reform has been attempted and constantly sabotaged by a man named David Berman. He will do anything to destroy a person's name and character and we have numerous individuals in the community who will attest to that belief.

His latest LIE is trying to blame me for costing the association $40,000 for acts ORIGINATED BY JAMES COLEMAN.

It was COLEMAN who demanded an outside mediator, while we consistently asked the COWARDLY BOARD to ignore him; but fear won out and they CONSPIRED to remove Rana Goodman as the scapegoat for an act THEY ALL HAD BEEN AN ACTIVE PART OF APPROVING.

bERMAN'S long list of Board recommendations have been at best, embarrassments to our community.

We had finally established reform until his underground network of control freaks managed to create this situation.

My advice to you is BEWARE of such individuals who consist of the likes of Board member, Wendy Lindow, CLC Chairman Robert GoldFried, as well as past Board members Candace Karrow, Rex Weddle, and last but not least the most TOXIC of them all, James Coleman who will be forever known as the individual who introduced the ugly subject of RACISM to our community, as well as, condemning certain individuals in the community, especially accusing myself of a criminal act ON A PUBLIC and PRIVATE forum.

Complaints have been filed against Coleman to PROVIDE HIS ALLEGATIONS, and as yet have not bee taken up by the SCA Board.

He has an opportunity to demand a FORMAL HEARING BEFORE THE MEMBERSHIP to answer his complaint. I hope he chooses that option, because if that be the case, he will have to PUBLICLY PROVE THE ALLEGATIONS. My guess is that he, like his mentor, David Berman, will BE COWARDS and refuse the option.

  • From Virginia Requa...to...Anthem Opinions

So the old Buzzard Berman is probably very pleased with himself.

    More strife in the community.

Can't control Rana so he wants her off board....between Coleman (BLM advocate calling the community racist)

    This is what's happened again.

    Harassment for Rana.

    I don't blame her.

  • From Royce Snyder...to...Anthem Opinions

    Dick,

    Goodbye and Good Luck.

I no longer live in Sun City Anthem.

We moved from Sun City Anthem two years ago, but I retained my subscription to Anthem Opinions to better understand how my Henderson neighborhood was doing.

I am saddened to lose my eye into the community, but I certainly understand your need to move on.

I am also saddened to learn many of the community members for whom I have the highest regard have been so denigrated.

Thank you for defending these community heroes.

Hopefully Sun City Anthem will eventually recover from the scars it has endured.

  • From Roseann Pica...to...Anthem Opinions

Dear Dick, I am TRULY shocked reading this.

I’m living here 16 years and have watched the DECLINE of respect for our community.

I have learned so much since you have started this wonderful Anthem Opinions.

I so APPRECIATE all the time, effort, truth and heartfelt messages you conveyed in your articles.

I looked forward to reading them; and now they will end.

Now regarding Rana ....I can’t believe Rana will be removed!

What is going on here??How & Why is this happening?

I was so HAPPY when she was elected President.

All the good she has done!

RANA...PLEASE FIGHT THIS COUP...we are counting on you!

  • Roseann,

This entire matter was engineered by by a subversive group referred to as "the Machine" lead by their leader, David Berman, in coordination with a Club President, an Association Attorney, and 6 COWARDS ON the Sun City Anthem Board, who were more concerned with fear, then defending the TRUTH.

  • From Dixie Peterson...to...Anthem Opinions

Thank you, Dick , for all your years of service to our community.

    You will be missed.

As for the shocking news about Rana, I have no words to describe the total disbelief I feel.

    Except, there went "hope"!

  • Dixie, please don't give up the ship.

Rana and I  are just two voices among many in our community.

I know Dan Roberts of the Vegas Voice,  and I can assure you, he will continue to bring truth to SCA..

  • From John Ray...to...Anthem Opinions

Dear Dick: It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to one of the real forces of good in Anthem Sun City.

You have done so much for the community, and helped expose, and change a corrupt force that had taken over our community.

Unfortunately is sounds like they have returned with vengeance.

THANK YOU for your service, and for fighting the good fight for all of us.Quite frankly no one knows of the extraordinary effort you have made for this community.

You, as the creator of  Anthem Opinions will be sorely missed.

Enjoy your new found freedom, and I hope you take a needed leave, rest, and clearing of the mind, and then join the fight again as a contributor in keeping our community free of the corruption that is always lurking!

  • From Paul and Jo Ellen Christiansen...to...Anthem Opinions

Hello Dick,First we would like to thank you for your excellent articles regarding the present unfortunate situation in our community.

We wish you and Maria the very best going forward.

Second we are sad to know you will not be doing the blog any longer, but certainly understand the work and stress it has become.

We feel Dan Roberts will carry on your work in the best possible way.

We are great admirers of his Vegas Voice paper. We would like to comment on the most recent articles attacking Rana, Charlie and Forrest.

It is sad when they are attacked so viciously when it is not in any way deserved.

Rana has worked diligently and spent countless months to help the elderly all over Nevada while still working for SCA's best interest.

She was elected by a large majority and should retain her position on the board.

We have lived in SCA for 18 years and Charlie is our good neighbor.

You never see Charlie without a smile on his face and he is always working for our community.

Forrest is known for his willingness to assist anyone in our community.

As a side note we are the people David Berman attacked and called immoral and unethical because we had the audacity to put a sign in our yard opposing his buddy Carl Weinstein for the SCA board.  We were the Weinstein family's neighbor all the time we lived here and felt very strongly about him representing our community. No one asked us why we opposed Carl Weinstein.

In our opinion David Berman will attack, demean, and try to intimidate anyone who disagrees with him.

We did not removed our sign as we will not be intimidated.

When we see David Berman attacking others it brings back how he treated us.  He did not know us, we had seen him, but never met him but he choose to judge us. His character speaks for itself.

The problems we are now seeing in our community has done so much damage.

We had never heard the word racism or racist uttered in our community until suddenly we are accused of racism as a community.

This is an attack on every resident with absolutely no proof we can see.

Some people are just unhappy and want to be sure everyone else is too. They want to make their perceived problems the problems of everyone around them.

Frankly we are not responsible for making them happy. We are all old people with limited years (hopefully years) left on this earth. Why spend those precious years being unhappy???

    Again, Thank you............

  • From Robert Latchford...to...Anthem Opinions

I’ll have to say it was quite disturbing to read about your leaving the Anthem Opinion.

Making a point to search my Emails daily for your words of wisdom became a part of my mornings as walking the dog and having my coffee.

However, when you mentioned that they are possible health connected with your decision, that in it’s own right is a legitimate excuse to reevaluate your priorities.

There are those in our community who side with those who, for whatever reasons, like to have maintain control the dollars coming in, mostly from dues paying  homeowners, regardless of the lunacy or lack on knowledge of how it will be spent, and I would venture that many, had it not been for warnings pointed out in Anthem Opinions, avoiding near catastrophic results.

The format of featuring Anthem centered news & opinion, news from throughout the valley, sports and entertainment , and readers’ thoughts offered something for nearly everyone.

The Mr. Fix-It articles are great for the not-so-handy man.

The amount of research must me tremendous, and encapsulating it into an interesting, accurate publication must require more than average patience by you and and understanding wife.

Hopefully, Mr. Roberts, with his experience, will continue the service.

Wishing you all the best and sincerely hoping and health issue are manageable

Anthem Opinions is Moving On to a New Chapter

To all our wonderful and loyal readers:

After 8 years of publishing Anthem Opinions with in excess of 2,400 subscribers averaging in excess of 50,000+ views each month, now totaling over 3,520,000 visits since inception in November, 2012, I'm tired !

Attempting to publish 2 articles per day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks each year,  can be a tedious task that has taken so much of my private life, that it's time to share more of that time with my understanding, patient, and loving wife, Marla.

In addition, as each day passes, between declining health and over the 15 year period I have been a resident of Sun City Anthem, when I look in a mirror, I no longer see myself or my dear dad, but now, my grandfather.

We all have our lives to live, and in mine, I have had my fair share of triumphs and defeats, but what I have never compromised is a promise that I made my father the day I graduated from college some 50 years ago..

...never bringing shame to the one thing he was able to pass on to me...

    ...my name !

He made me promise that while he may not have been able to leave me riches, he did leave me a sense of right and wrong, that those who are less fortunate than you, deserve the same respect they would give you.

I've tried so hard to keep that promise and all too often, placed the concerns of others, over myself....and...my dear wife.

I have always told the truth, no matter the consequence.

The "underdog" and the "uninformed" have always had my heart and devotion and will always be a part of my personality; however, the time has finally come to admit...

I can no longer "fight the fight".

However, before I leave, I want to do so with a warning and advice to those members of the Sun City Anthem community.

Our community is in deep need of reform, and there are elements within it that, if not closely examined, will inevitably create severe financial issues, impair property values, and reduce the overall morale of its occupants.

On Thursday, October 22, 2020, my dear friend, Rana Goodman, is scheduled to be removed as the President of of Sun City Anthem Board of Directors due to what I will refer to as a literal "coup" under the most embarrassing, hurtful, and cruel circumstances due to lies, deception, and cowardice on the part of certain individuals as well as those on the current Sun City Anthem Board, once referred to as a "New Deal", but now can more properly be referred to as "the resurgence of the machine."

They have been sadly influenced by an element of our community who wish not only to destroy her personally; but by doing so, will have destroyed the community spirit as well.

They will have "sold out" a decent human being to protect those from entering the ugliness of racism in our community.

I want to conclude this soon to be "good-bye" by asking a favor of all of you.

I ask you to simply write a short "thank you" to Rana for her years of service not only to our community, but the entire state in which we live.

...and...if you believe this was wrong in which the remaining Board members will act, include a statement as to your belief that this should not take place.

Send this to Sandy Seddon, C.E.O. with a copy to Elyssa Rammos, the Sun City Anthem Community Association Manager, asking them to read your message to the Board DURING THE INITIAL RESIDENT COMMENT PERIOD for it to become permanent record as to your feeling about this Board mockery.

    The  addresses are as follows:

    Sandy.Seddon@scacai.com

    Elyssa.Rammos@scacai.com

Remember Rana Goodman as the individual who fought to change all guardianship laws in Nevada to PROTECT you, the seniors of our community.

Then remember those who plan to make every attempt to destroy her....especially if any choose to remain on the Sun City Anthem Board.

    I'll say a final  good-bye on October 31st.

    And now....

    Our Announcement

I am very proud to announce that effective November 1, 2020The Vegas Voice has purchased all rights, title, ownership and control of Anthem Opinions.

Dan Roberts, publisher of The Vegas Voice will maintain day-to-day operations of Anthem Opinions.

Dan has assured me that just like his publication, he will continue to inform SCA residents of what is going on (or not going on) in our community, and you will still be able to access this publication in the same manner in which you have in the past.

As of November 1, 2020, we will be known as:

    Anthem Opinions
    A Vegas Voice Publication.

And just like the publication did in its state and national award winning Guardianship investigation, it promises to go after the "bad guys and gals" that would harm SCA.

The information that Anthem Opinions has uncovered in the past and present, has shared with you, and investigated over the years, will continue with this new ownership.

We send our warmest regards to Dan Roberts, and we hope you will continue to visit Anthem Opinions offering the many venues that will be continued.

Congratulations to Dan and The Vegas Voice.  If you wish to contact him, please feel free to do so.

  • I am sorry to see you leave as I have learned information from your sight. I am also very sorry to hear about Rana, I did not know that.
The future does not seems very bright and I am worried about the direction of our community.
    I wish you well.

  • Dick,
We will miss your approach and integrity!
However, I am happy you have made this decision for you and Marla.
I am disgusted at your statement as to our Board President..Rana Goodman.
I am hoping she fights this with legal representation.
Sadly, it does not surprise me that this SCA Board would act in this manner. I have said from the beginning of this Boards term, Ms. Goodman is in a difficult
Position because this Board will not support her.
Anyways, I wish good health and happy years to come with Marla.

    Peter Brown

  • From Mary Lee Duley...to...Anthem Opinions

    Dear Dick:

The negatives in SCA now outweigh the positives, sadly, and I’m at a loss to understand the existing board’s decision!

Shameful and inexcusable not strong enough words to describe how I feel.

Sadly, the existing board's behavior should not surprise me as several neighbors and friends have sold their homes and several more will be selling and moving due to the current environment where nastiness is prevailing.

It is with a heavy heart that I hear that what is happening to what was Once a great retirement community.

You and Rana have integrity, honesty, experience, and love for SCA and have done an AMAZING JOB for Sun City Anthem and ALL residents, past and current, have benefited for so many years.

My personal thanks for all you did and accomplished while I lived in SCA for thirteen years.

Few people understand the time and effort given to provide Anthem Opinions to the residents of SCA, and your postings.

Frankly, I’m happy we sold the house and moved and the current environment is not the type we would desire to live in.

There has NEVER been any Racial issues in SCA until now and it seems that the distortions, lies, and deception outweigh the truth!!

How sad for the entire community, as your efforts and Rana’s will be a tremendous loss to Sun City Anthem.

Best of luck in all of your personal endeavors, please stay in touch dearest friend.

  • From Barbara Sidary...to...Anthem Opinions

    Wow, what a shock!

I am so sorry to see you go, but thank you for all you have done.

I look forward to getting your news every day it comes out.

It has been informative and you should be proud of all the work and effort you have put in to keep the residents of Sun City informed.

I wish you and yours only health and happiness in whatever you do in the coming years.

I hope life brings us all only good things and the world gets better next year.

Can't wait to see 2020 gone.

  • From Tien H. Cheng...to...Anthem Opinions

Hello:  I just send an e-mail to Sandy and Elyssa to express my outrage.

  • From Valerie Lapin...to...Anthem Opinions

    You sold out.  Berman wins!

  • Only if you let him, Valerie.

    1. From John Schmidt...to...Anthem Opinions

      Dick,

Thank you for your years of fighting waste and corruption in Anthem.

You are an example of fairness and honesty in direct contrast to another blogger in Anthem.

I know from personal experience that David Berman is a liar and has committed legal fraud.

He continues to spew his lies and I when I questioned his self- proclaimed integrity,I was blocked from commenting on his blog on any subject.

I am certain that Dan Roberts will continue to fight for the fair minded residents of Sun City Anthem,

We wish you well and again, thank you for your years of service to our community.

    2. From Barry Goldstein...to...Anthem Opinions

You are entitled to have a life.   Did Valerie Lapin volunteer to take up the cause?

    3. From Robert Smith...to...Anthem Opinions

Dear Mr Arendt,It has been my pleasure to read your blog.

Congratulations on being sold to Vegas Voice…Looking forward to your comments via “The Voice” in the future…

      Good Luck.

So, please share with me the allegations of misconduct by Rana Goodman

Is it her association with Vegas Voice or some real  issue???  I thoroughly agree!! She did a great job as President…

      So!!! Give her a chance!!!

  • From Dan Roberts...to...Anthem Opinions

Note this email sent from David Berman to Wendy Linow, Board Secretary, then ask yourself, if Linow and Berman have been involved in the entire matter?

    From: David Berman
Date: Thu, Oct 8,2020, 12:29 AMS
    ubject: FYI
    To: Wendy Linow

Dear Wendy:I had a meeting Wednesday morning with the attorney who handled my successful defamation lawsuit against a SCA resident.

Here is what is probably going to happen next.

I will be publishing a series of articles about Dan Roberts and his past.

Because everything in the articles will be absolutely true, including legal documents and court records, they will not be defamatory in any way.

Both an internal SCA complaint and an Ombudsman Intervention Affidavit will be prepared and submitted, alleging that Rana Goodman, because she is a director and president of the Board, violated a specific provision of our governing documents by allowing use of her blog to attack members of the community.

In addition, in light of Rana’s apology letter to Jim Coleman in which she acknowledges making certain errors and apologizes for them, a specific provision of the Settlement Agreement is being examined to determine if allowing the use of her blog to attack the agreement and the work of the Community Lifestyle Committee has resulted in abrogation of the Settlement Agreement as the lawyer may determine. After the Association incurred thousands of dollars in expenses to resolve the AAHC dispute, I lament the fact that more expenses may be inevitable.

    This didn’t have to happen.

Dan Roberts could have published the exact same attacks on a blog other than Rana’s blog, and he would have been within his free-speech rights to do so.

But because his articles are being published on a blog owned or controlled by a director, specifically the Board President, therein lies the problem and the brewing crisis.

I have done my homework regarding Rana’s variety of health issues, and I could think of no better outcome than for her to leave the Board for health reasons, especially since she is in the latter stages of her term.

Such an outcome would also bolster the plans I had, but have temporarily put on hold due to my anger over this matter, to aggressively support her worthy campaign against a “bad” judge running for reelection despite his culpability in the guardianship abuses that Rana has worked so hard to overcome.

I was eager to reach my 4,000 readers with that message, but now I am hesitating because a dog or other pet can only be kicked so many times before it becomes less loving.

I write from the heart, and I am not telling you what to do with this message.

Use your own judgment, but I felt I needed to tell someone what is going on as the result of Mr. Roberts’ out-of-the-blue commentaries that now threaten to tear apart the matter that I thought all the involved parties had finally put behind us for the good of our beloved community.

This is a time to think of SUN CITY ANTHEM, not our petty personal grievances.

    Sincerely,David

  • Wow,

Thanks Dan Roberts for PROVING the involvement of David Berman coordinating efforts with Wendy Linow.
Incidentally, this "successful suit" filed against an 80 year old man resulted in a $1,000 NUISANCE SETTLEMENT.

Yes, a "great" victory, wasn't it?
    1. From Clara Lau...to...Anthem Opinions

      Bolster his plan?

What exactly is he planning to do?

How dirty can he be forcing Rana to step down and uses health as excuse!

Like he said, Rana is already in late stage of her term, why can’t he spare her?

I bet the next election for the BOD will be a blood bath.!

    2. Clara, I don't think anyone in their right mind would run for the BOD knowing this is the type of underhanded treatment that one gets from an individual who would sacrifice his community, to destroy one person...except one, and the Dan Roberts forwarded email pretty much proves how subversive this enemy of the community is, and always has been.

What's worse is that there really are some out there who will still believe him despite the proof of his cunning and disturbing tactics...

      ...and...

      They deserve each other.

    1. So really sad to read about your departure, but truly understand you need a life, and a break. Best of wishes to a better, more relaxing future too in the new year even though its a bit early, but I'm sure we all look forward to a better one.

I'm sure after a while not looking at the blog everyday you'll miss all the emails from ALL those wonderful and rational people you see everyday especially from me as well as I always looked forward to them.

As to our pariah and friends, I guess we can't have a perfect world so we deal with them as best as possible knowing they crop up like the evils of daily life wants to make us continually aware of them.

      GOD Bless!

    2. From Patsy McCarthy...to...Anthem Opinions

      Dear Dick and Dan:

      First, Dick.

I am sorry to see you leaving Anthem Opinions behind; however you could not leave it in better hands then Dan Roberts.

As we all get older we must make decisions that effect the rest of our lives.

You and Marla have given us many years of service, information, and good humor and it is time you both deserve to relax and enjoy yourselves.

I hope that many happy years are ahead of you together.

      Dan.

Rana was one of the first persons I met when I moved to SCA 17 years ago.

She has been a steadfast friend and always there for me when I needed her especially when my Mom passed away earlier this year.

She was the first one through the door that terrible day.

She has also been there for all of her friends and strangers.

I know she has paid for attorney fees for friends and strangers (who are now friends) especially when the Guardianship fight was going on.

Guardianship is an ongoing fight and the two of you are still fighting for justice.

And, frankly for one, you and Rana are the best things to happen for each other.

I have personally seen the love and respect you have for each other and it makes me realize that genuine love can come to people even at our age.

I am absolutely appalled at what the BOD and the troll are attempting to do to her and will be sending emails to Seddon and Rammos immediately after I send this to you.

I have always loved living in SCA except for dealing with the corrupt BODs and the troll for that entire time.

I wish I could take my introduction to him back.

Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the BOD meeting Thursday as for some reason my computer cannot communicate with the SCA website and I cannot make a reservation.

Rana Goodman is the best thing that has ever happened to our community.  She works tirelessly for everyone despite race, nationality or creed.

She has proved this time and time again.

And to see individuals trying to destroy her for whatever their selfish misguided reasons is despicable.

I know that you will bring Anthem Opinions to greater heights and go on fighting the good fight as you always have.

It is an honor to know you and your entire family.

    1. From Tony & Angelina Orzada...to...Anthem Opinions

      Hi Dick,

We are SORRY to see you feel it is time for you to move on.

Angelina & I have enjoyed your wit, common sense & looking out for all of us vs the MACHINE which I remember equating to the Chicago  Machine where I grew up.

We will miss you, you did a hell of a job in many times a thankless world ( read Berman etc ).

Passing the blog on to Dan Roberts was a brilliant move on your part & we feel that he will continue in the footsteps you carved here in Sun City Anthem based on his comments in the magazine he puts out.

Please clarify for us what's the story with Rana being "REMOVED" ? ? ? ?

We have NO idea where that came from & your clarification would give us a clue as to WTF is going on here.

Again, you did a fantastic job fighting for us against the MACHINE

      All the best Dick.

    1. From Linda Baum...to...Anthem Opinions

I finally got the HOA salary and contract info...after starting my “quest” in June.

Absolutely disgusted that there is every roadblock to transparency in our HOA.

No one really wants transparency; that was clear.

Too many people are drinking the Koolaide in the very worst way.

You inspired me...as just an average resident without any affiliation to any club, group, etc.

Best wishes as you retire from your blog.

    1. Thank you for your years of sacrifice for our enrichment. Now it will be time for you and Marla to enrich your retirement years. Dan will carry on flawlessly. Could not be a better scenario for everyone.
Our best to you and your pills,
      Liz and Bill Breier

    2. From Virginia & Ralph Vequa...to...Anthem Opinions

      Dear Dick,

Thank you for all you've done to help our "good causes" in this SCA community.

Unfortunately you have been maligned and not appreciated for all your hard work.

I can understand why and how you are tired of all the bickering that has happened.

Unfortunately, yours is not the blog that should be "gone".

Thank you again for all your efforts.
