A Funny Thing Happened
at the Forum
My telephone rang numerous
times Wednesday evening regarding the Sun City Anthem Entertainment Club's
sponsoring a forum in which all six board candidates appeared that took place
earlier in the day.
...and based on their comments, it
appeared the "winners" (most professional) were Jim
Mayfield, Bob Frank, and Barry Goldstein.
...the same candidates we brought to
your attention that we believed would be "reformers"
of association  governance that we have long believed, is in need of
repair.
These candidates concentrated on
looking at the future expected costs should FSR be dropped in favor of community
self-management ...and that...based on much of the commentary...appears a
certainty.
All three believed any future projects
must be delayed until the costs associated with self-management can be
properly determined (i.e., a miniature golf course or any other venue at the
site of the Liberty Center's bocce courts).
Candidate Bella
Meese did little other than state how much she had done as a member of
the board....and seemed rather nervous when the topic of continuing to finance
Cafe V was mentioned.
As we previously told you, she has voted 100% of the time to continue subsidizing that
organization at each available opportunity...a subject many in the
audience appeared to feel "enough was
enough".
Candidate Carl
Weinstein said he too, would be cautious about future expenditures in
many areas.
And that leads Anthem Opinions to send
out a special thank you to candidate, Rex Weddle.
When introduced to the audience, his
initial comment was:
"I'm Rex Weddle....Dick Arendt's whipping boy"
Why a "thanks"?
We added 12 new subscribers to Anthem Opinions since that forum
concluded.
Obviously, a number of people in the
audience seemed to agree with our assessment.
