Sun City Anthem Loses a Valued Employee
Anthem Center Receptionist Suddenly Dies
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden death of Anthem Center receptionist Kathy Elliott .
Kathy was an individual who wore a number of hats; monitoring resident concerns and would often take time "going the extra mile" to encourage a sense of community among those in the Center, in addition to, her receptionist duties.
She would often refer to herself jokingly as a "referee".
As a resident of Sun City Anthem for 14 years, I can't remember a time during that entire period when a smile didn't greet those who passed her desk as they entered Anthem Center.
She defined the words "resident friendly".
A most memorable moment took place a number of months ago when a resident submitted a letter with approximately 170 signatures to CEO, Sandra Seddon, requesting she be selected as the "Employee of the Month" which carried a monetary bonus...
...a first for any employee of the association !
The request was never approved.
When the award was denied, her reaction was heard to say:
"My reward was seeing so many people sign the letter on my behalf"...
...that had she been awarded the prize, would have donated the sum to those in the Center for a party they too could enjoy.
She will be missed by those who knew her, and our condolences go out to her family.
She leaves behind three sons, the youngest, a recent high school graduate.
Kathy was only in her mid-50s at the time of her death.

According to Kathy's son, she passed away as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Many residents had signed a petition a while ago to have her made Employee of the Month.

- Many in our community will recognize a face, but not a name.

It was very touching that you should recognize "a little" someone who contributes so much good to the community.
I never knew her. Rarely go to the Rec Center.
It would be nice if you had a picture of her.
I'll see what I can do.
Long shot. Not on Facebook.
Maybe you know of a friend of hers, another Anthem employee perhaps, that can contribute a picture.
