I was at work at the VA Hospital taking care of patients.
My fiance was on the Chicago Police Department and stationed on the west side of Chicago. He received the first call where people were rioting and were burning a news truck.
I did not see him for three days after that because of the massive damage being done to businesses in that area.
I heard the news and ran into the office of the Associate Chief of Medicine next to me. That VA hospital immediately went on lock down.
