Our Anthem Opinions Beliefs
Why Do We Do
This...and...Not That ?
We often get emails and questions as to
why we don't cover more inter-community events and
meetings.
SO... I thought I would write this
article to clarify our views as to what we do, and why we do
them.
Perhaps an initial comment is to state
why we exist, and what we have attempted to
accomplish.
We exist to help you stay young and
enjoy a lifestyle you believed you were going to receive when you retired; in
other words, a "fair shake".
That's why it is our attempt to
entertain you, as well as, provide you information that is useful in your
everyday life....
...a life that we believe you should be
able to enjoy without following ridiculous structured rules
as to how you should live it !
Our logic is
that...
"We've made it this
far, so we must have done something right".
But....coming from an atmosphere where
you "made you own kind of music" was the closest thing to shell shock when it
came to living in a Homeowners Association !
At first it was anticipated that you
would be like musketeers, "One for All, and All for
One".
I anticipated going to a board meeting
talking "turkey" with a bunch of mature
adults...where experience and common sense would prevail.....that,
because there was one big pot of money in which everyone contributed equally, we
would therefore be treated equally.
That quickly
changed.
I have experienced board meetings with
crowds at one time that attracted 100s of residents, quickly dwindle to a paltry
30-34 stalwarts who enjoy going to meetings, because, well, that's their "cup of
tea".
Their entire existence is going to
meetings.
And to those people who enjoy those
meetings as entertainment, we hope you have a ball !
They should not be criticized or ridiculed; but at the same time, those not attending should also not be
criticized.
However, for those who do wish
to increase those attendance numbers.....our suggestion is to make them more
interesting and treasure independent thought rather than ridiculing or simply
rejecting it....
....just because it came from "the politically wrong person" who a small group considers a
"malcontent".
Remember....Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas
Edison, and Bill Gates were ridiculed because
they simply....disagreed with the existing
"structure".
We, however, quickly came to the
conclusion that a ridiculous"structured " type of life was
NOT our "cup of tea".....
....that we came here to live our lives
the way we've lived them for years....
....independently ,successfully and
without stress, not dealing with those who are without the ability to comprehend
or reason....
...subject to a few sensible rules of "structure".
Unfortunately that attitude seems to be
criticized by some....usually, the ones who need the all encompassing
"structured" lifestyle.
They often criticize others for not
attending meetings or not volunteering for something that has to do with that
"structured " environment.
In short, many of the "structured
life types" seem to criticize others for not being clones of
themselves.
Those of us who have loved and
cherished an independent lifestyle will never change, and we do not expect the
others to change either.
They are what they are,
and we are what we are.
But...our types expect only one thing from the other "structured types" who insist on
that lifestyle and from which board members are born.
Spend our money
wisely.
That's it
!
And...that appears to be where the
conflict arises.
A number of us have tried to
bring knowledge and independent experiences to light, but as is so often the
case when those in power have never been independent thinkers, innovation and
common sense is often ignored or criticized.
Change is difficult to comprehend or
accept when one's background is entirely composed of "structure", and quite
frustrating when it is snubbed by others who have lived by their own
rules....successfully.
Be that as it may, that brings us to
answer the initial question....
..."Why Do We Do
This...and...Not That"....
Because we wish to maintain an
independent lifestyle and provide you information that you can enjoy AWAY FROM THE STRUCTURE of those who go to their
"meetings" day in and day out."
Did you come here to
gamble?
Some did, and some didn't; but the fact
remains that in today's world you don't have to live in Las Vegas to
gamble....you can do that in just about any state.
Did you come here for
the weather?
Some did, and some didn't; but only
those who GET OUT of their homes are capable of answering that question
honestly. No matter where you came from, you had air conditioning and heat to
keep you comfortable.
Did you come here to
eat expensive dinners?
Some did, and some didn't; but you
don't have to live in Las Vegas to eat expensive dinners....and most
importantly, you should not be made to feel guilty if you do not patronize an
expensive eatery, OR SUBSIDIZE ONE, if that is something you prefer not to
do.
Did you come here to
enjoy first class entertainment?
That's where we come in....and how we
are different than what you might read elsewhere.
We want to keep you "alive" and "fun" by looking at
this community as just another venue in your life...not the
only one.... merely the one you sleep
in...
...one you should escape as often as
possible to fully enjoy yourself.
So, that's what were all about...not
this !
We love entertainment, and we love
entertainment bargains ...especially from local places

We love food, but we love food that
will allow you to get a bargain in...

We love history, because without

We love our homes and that's why we

We all have scrubs that require
maintenance, and that's why we have a master gardener

What we don't have is boredom about reminding you to attend meetings on a Friday afternoon to talk for two hours about a stripe on
a tennis court.
...or conceit trying to believe you are
"better than others", boasting about living in a beautiful community, when in
fact you are no better than others... merely "luckier" than some to enjoy
one.
And as long as we're in
existence....we'll stay that way...for one reason...
We love life HERE...as well as....OUTSIDE THE WALLS OF SUN CITY

We don't take advertising, but we do help out a
friend when asked...especially one who has helped hundreds of Sun City Anthem
and Solera residents for years.
Men and women have had their hair cut, styled, or
whatever by a wonderful lady named Sherry at Fantastic Sam's located on Eastern Avenue just north of
Horizon Ridge.
Sherry
Recently Sherry left Fantastic Sam's
and has gone out on her own, and her strong following of "Sun City Anthem", "Solera", and
local area customers missed her inexpensive, excellent service , and always
jovial personality.
Have any of you been
looking for her?
Well....she's back, but in a
different location.
If you are one of Sherry's old
customers, she will CHARGE WHAT SHE DID AT FANTASTIC

I know she was always the most popular

Anthem Opiniions Contributor Remembers A Friend
As the Entertainment Editor of The Vegas Voice, I
have the opportunity of meeting many local celebrities in the entertainment
world, two of the most special being...
Marty
Allen and Steve Rossi
Steve Rossi was a "regular guy" who never stopped
appreciating people, whether he was their close friend or someone he had just
met.
He was a kind man, always willing to stop and talk
to those he entertained over the years....
...who was gracious enough to appear on our Vegas
Voice "An Afternoon Affair" show hosted by Mark OToole at Sunset Station a few
months ago.
Steve Rossi left us on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at the age of 82...performing as late as a mere couple of weeks before his death.
Our friend and contributor to our "What's Up in Weekend Entertainment" Information Page, Norm Johnson, was a close friend of Mr. Rossi for years and
he wrote this article to honor the memory of his friend....Steve

After Failing to Destroy Club...Blog Owner Resigns as Veterans Club Officer

Controversy is Over !
Many of our readers have been reading about this newest Sun City Anthem
venue on other community publications, a club that is making every attempt to bring greater happiness in our daily lives.
Yet despite those attempts, there was also an attempt
to destroy it.......
...by an
individual who has again and again, tried to discredit Entertainment Club
president, Forrest Fetherolf.
This individual has referred to our Mr. Fix-It as "slippery" and a "clown",
and made an attempt to hold the Woodchips Club responsible
for a tragic suicide...
...all during a point in time
when Forrest was a candidate for the Sun City Anthem Board in
2010.
In addition, prior to that, this same individual maliciously
made attempts to have Entertainment Club Vice-President, Rana Goodman, not be reappointed to her position on the Henderson Senior
Citizens Advisory Commission, by concocting
a petition that he claimed to have received numerous amounts of support.
It was later learned through the Freedom of
Information Act, that only a handful of individuals signed the petition, and Ms.
Goodman was subsequently reappointed.
Recently he "struck again" at these individuals by attempting to have the
Entertainment Club Charter REVOKED...leading people to believe he spoke ON BEHALF OF THE VETERANS
CLUB.
He DID NOT speak on anyone's behalf other than his own.
This act, of what many have perceived as additional vindictive behavior
on this person's part toward these individuals, has thankfully FAILED...
...and
Forrest Fetherolf, our Mr. Fix-It, has asked that we print this comment on
behalf of the Sun City Anthem Entertainment Club as its
president.

States Mr. Fetherolf:
Now the dust has settled once again in SCA...hopefully we can
close the door on this issue.
David Berman not only displayed his hatred for three of our
SCA Entertainment Club Board Members in his rant on his blog, via emails, and
phone calls, he used his position as Veterans Club Secretary, without authority
from the Veterans Club BOD, in an attempt to influence others and file false
charges against our SCA Entertainment Club with Lifestyle Committee to have our
club charter pulled.
It backfired in his face resulting with his SUDDEN
RESIGNATION as Secretary of the Veterans Club and all charges withdrawn from
the Lifestyles Committee.
What Mr. Berman didn't know or ignored was the fact I was in
constant contact with Veterans Club President Roger Cooper during this ordeal,
getting approval for the Veterans Wall improvement through Property and Grounds
Committee, and arranging professional entertainment to perform during the
Veterans Club big event on November 11, 2014.
This man not only tried to discredit our SCA Entertainment
Club, he also brought discredit to his own Veterans Club to satisfy his personal
hatred agenda.
Berman may have been successful convincing a few of his
believers our SCA Entertainment Club and the officers are
bad...
...but results are very clear.
SCA Entertainment Club currently has over 160 members within
the first two months after charter club approval and growing at the rate of more
than a dozen new members per week.
Our first major event is scheduled for July 20 in Freedom
Hall @ 2pm. We have commitments from six Las Vegas entertainers to provide an
afternoon of enjoyment for our club members and their
guests.
