Is Sun City Anthem General Manager Overpaid?
Yup, if I were Sandy Seddon, and got the deal she did, I'd do the dance of joy too!
On Friday, April 6, 2018 Channel 13 ran a story about the search for a new Clark County Superintendent of Schools.
I kept all of this in mind as I viewed the Channel 13 report which I have linked if you missed it.

It reminded me a bit of Sandy Seddon's history of Sun City Anthem's employment.
Once the decision was made to go to "Self-Management", the Sun City Anthem Board hired a professional search firm to come up with candidates for the General Manager position in which a select few individuals were interviewed, subsequently hiring Seddon at an initial starting income of $250,000.
That search firm was paid approximately $20,000 to find Seddon...
...a candidate not in any way familiar with HOAs in Nevada.

A few days ago, we ran a story about Sun City Anthem employee incomes, discovering that Seddon in 2017 was paid:
General Manager: Sandy Seddon
a. Salary & Bonus $265,225.17
b. 401(k) employer contribution + Med. Ins. 10,645.34
Total $275,870.51
Evidently the Clark County School district is also going through a search to find a new boss; and they too, hired a search firm, spending $55,000.
Though they are now down to 4 candidates for the job, the final decision will be made sometime in April...
...with criticism as to why no candidate could be found locally and already familiar with Nevada schooling administration.

With all that in mind, let's take a look at that position and compare it to that of Seddon's...
And for those who are constantly defending the Sun City Anthem Board's infinite wisdom, we'd love to hear their reasoning for justifying what they did and then ask you if you believe we got a good deal?
The Clark County School Superintendent is responsible for managing the affairs of 42,000 employees which include 18,000 teachers instructing 320,000 students in 358 schools.
It's the 5th largest school district in the United States and serves the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, Mesquite, as well as the census designated places of Laughlin, Blue Diamond, Logandale, Bunkerville, Goodsprings, Indian Springs, Mount Charleston, Searchlight, and Sandy Valley. It also operates 25 alternative schools and programs.
Seddon, according to records recently researched and obtained from Sun City Anthem records, manages the affairs of :
Total number of association employees:
Full time 68
Part time 15
Total 83
Referring back the the Clark County Superintendent's job...
According to "Salary.com"...
"The medium annual School Superintendent salary in Las Vegas, NV is $161,747 as of March 29, 2018, with a range between $132,125 - $195,166, not including bonus and benefit information and other factors that impact base pay."
So...for those who would believe Sun City Anthem is justified in paying an individual who manages 83 employees, while overseeing three buildings (Anthem, Independence, & Liberty Centers)...
... at an annual income that exceeds an individual who manages 42,000 employees in 14 cities by approximately...
$100,000
...we'd sure like to hear...

So a huge mistake was made.... What do we do to get rid of this parasite....? -
Hollis, in my mind, there are a number of parasites that need to be eliminated.
It starts with DUMPING those who are responsible for creating the situation and who find this waste acceptable.
That means first, DUMPING the three "machine" candidates:

Robert Burch
James Coleman
Then in 2019, you get rid of the rest of them if they run for reelection.
Then, once the slate it CLEANSED, you dump the General Manager, followed by the Attorney.

It's time to fire the person in charge and let the assistant manager do her job for a while. Then we should look for a managing company outside of Anthem to start managing our facilities again.
Doing it ourselves has cost us more than ever and it's about time we started protecting all of our seniors and their pocketbooks and stop giving all of our money to the board and they're inferior accomplishments. -

OK folks, its time to get real about our GM's salary. Here is a list of a few websites to bring us the news that running this place does not take nearly $300K.
I could go on and on by adding a lot of states, even go so far as to find them in the east as well, but I don't need to because they'll all refer you to the same place...the IDIOTS that are running the board think, but don't have a clue.
